# Connect MosoFin to ChatGPT

Connect MosoFin as a custom ChatGPT app, authorize your account, and confirm that ChatGPT can see the correct workspaces.

## Check your access

Custom MCP apps are available on ChatGPT web for Business, Enterprise, and Edu workspaces. Pro users can connect MCP apps with read/fetch access in developer mode. MosoFin is read-only.

| Other personal plan | OpenAI's current guide does not list read/fetch MCP availability for these plans |

## Before you begin

You need:

* A MosoFin account with at least one active workspace.
* QuickBooks connected to the workspace you want to use.
* ChatGPT on the web.
* Permission to create custom apps, or help from your workspace admin.
* The MosoFin MCP endpoint: `https://mcp.mosofin.com/mcp`.

## Step 1: Enable developer mode

Business admins and owners can open **Workspace settings** → **Apps** → **Create**, then enable developer mode when prompted.

Authorized Enterprise and Edu users can open **Settings** → **Apps** → **Advanced Settings**, then turn on **Developer mode**. If the setting is missing, ask an admin to grant access.

## Step 2: Create MosoFin

1. Open **Settings** → **Apps** → **Create**. Admins and owners can also use **Workspace settings** → **Apps** → **Create**.
2. Name the app **MosoFin**.
3. Enter `https://mcp.mosofin.com/mcp` as the MCP endpoint.
4. Choose the authentication option ChatGPT shows.
5. Select **Scan Tools**.
6. Sign in to MosoFin and approve the connection.
7. Wait for the tool scan to finish.
8. Review the discovered tools, then select **Create**.

## Step 3: Test the connection

1. Start a new ChatGPT conversation.
2. Select **MosoFin** for the message, or type `@MosoFin` if app mentions are available.
3. Enter:

   `List my MosoFin workspaces.`
4. Review and approve the tool request if ChatGPT asks.

The response should list only the workspaces your MosoFin account can access.

## Try your first question

`Using [workspace name], summarize revenue and expenses for last month.`

Select or mention MosoFin again whenever a later message needs fresh MosoFin data.

## Publish MosoFin for your workspace

Admins and owners can open **Workspace settings** → **Apps** → **Drafts**, select MosoFin, and choose **Publish**. Enterprise and Edu admins can configure group access and available actions before publishing.

> **Alt text:** Publish the MosoFin custom app to a ChatGPT workspace

## Permissions and privacy

All MosoFin QuickBooks tools are read-only. They cannot create, update, or delete records, post transactions, make payments, or reconcile accounts. Review every permission request before approving it.

## Disconnect or reconnect

Open **Settings** → **Apps**, find MosoFin, and choose **Disconnect** or **Remove** from its management menu. Repeat the setup steps to reconnect.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.mosofin.com/source-and-destination/destinations/chatgpt/connect-chatgpt.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
