# Best practices

Use this pattern to make financial requests specific, verifiable, and easy to repeat.

## Confirm the workspace first

Name the intended client or company workspace before asking a financial question. Never assume Claude is using the workspace from a previous task.

## Include reporting context

State the date range, comparison period, accounting basis, and desired output. Use concrete dates for reports and transaction searches.

## Ask for support behind the answer

Request the accounts, report lines, or transactions driving an important conclusion. Ask a follow-up when a figure is surprising or incomplete.

## Use skills for repeatable work

Run a saved MosoFin skill when the same review should follow a consistent method across clients or periods. Confirm the workspace before running it.

## Treat outputs as drafts

Review figures and narrative before sharing them with a client. Claude can help explain the data, but it does not replace accounting judgment or source verification.

## Keep write actions outside MosoFin

MosoFin is read-only. If a review identifies a required accounting change, make and approve that change directly in QuickBooks using your normal controls.
